May 6: Strength Is Overrated
1. What does it mean to you to stay strong? Why do you think society values human strength and independence so much?
2. Recall a time when you tried to be strong in the face of a challenge. What happened? What did you learn about your own strength?
3. Do you have a hard time admitting that you are tired, frustrated, or overwhelmed? Is it easier for you to admit these feelings to God or to other people? Explain.
4. How does Jesus’ crying out to God before his crucifixion
encourage you turn to God when you’re in need? Who else in scripture reminds you that it is okay to cry out to God?
5. How do you feel God’s comforting presence in times of weakness? In what ways does God give you strength in these times?

3. Do you find God’s word easy to understand and apply? Why or why not? What do you do when you find God’s word hard to understand?
4. When has God helped you through a big challenge? How do you ask God for help and wisdom when you are facing a significant obstacle?
5. How can you tell when you need to turn to God for wisdom and guidance? What happens when you don’t turn to God for help? What happens when you lean into God’s instruction?
