Be Loved This Lent

It happened again! A friend and I had been discussing our struggles with forgiveness on a phone call. After our call, I saw my Bible and The Upper Room sitting there and realized I hadn’t done my devotional time yet. Even though I was a little discouraged after our conversation, I decided to have my devotions anyway. I opened up my copy of The Upper Room and found that the meditation that day was on forgiveness.
This has happened to me many times. The subject of the day’s reading often pertains to exactly what I need. And I believe there are no coincidences. The Upper Room and its relevance are among the many ways God reaches out to me each day, and it is an important one because it includes ways to incorporate the Bible and active prayer into the rest of the day.
I don’t think it is a coincidence that my first contribution accepted by The Upper Room was a meditation on growing in prayer and praying throughout the day. I’m still working on it. Some days I do better than others, but God is always doing his part. God knows just what we need. It’s easy to miss God’s voice sometimes in our busyness and distractions. I’m so grateful for the many ways God gets my attention. My answers don’t always come so quickly, but often they do if I’m paying attention.
