March 4: Compassion
1. Have you ever taken notice of Matthew 14:14 where it says that Jesus had compassion on the crowd? How does that verse change the way you think about Jesus feeding the five thousand?
2. Do you think it was easy for Jesus to have compassion on the crowd? Why or why not?
3. Why do you think it can be easy for us to miss parts of familiar Bible stories when we read them quickly? What Bible story have you recently gained a new perspective on? What is the new perspective?
4. What situations and circumstances make it hard for you to show compassion to others? How does your faith help you to show compassion to others even in moments when it is challenging?
5. What scripture passages most remind you of the importance of compassion? How do these verses help you to be more compassionate each day?
March 11: Diving Deeper
1. Have you ever gone snorkeling? If so, what was it like? If not, what other activities allow you to look beyond the ordinary and witness something beautiful?
2. Recall a time when you have had a joyful experience but were unable to share it with others. Why couldn’t you share it?
3. Why do you think some people are content floating on the surface, never diving deeper into a relationship with Christ? What do they miss out on?
4. How does studying scripture deepen your faith and bring you closer to God? What other spiritual practices draw you into a closer relationship with God?
5. How has the Holy Spirit helped you to realize who you are in Christ? How does your faith change the way you view and experience the world?
March 18: Gardening with God
1. What makes weeds so persistent? Why do you think they get out of control quickly while cultivated plants often grow slowly and need more attention?
2. Today’s writer draws a connection between her gardening and our lives. What in nature do you think best mirrors our lives? Why?
3. In what ways have the fruit of the Spirit helped to get rid of the “weeds” within you? Who or what has helped you remove those weeds?
4. What scripture verses encourage you as you work to cultivate the fruit of God’s Spirit? How do these verses help you keep the weeds in your life from taking over?
5. How does it help you to have a Gardener working alongside you as you remove the weeds in your life? How do you think this “weeding” would be different if you were on your own?

1. When has something you loved turned into a source of pain or anxiety? What happened? How did you feel when that shift occurred?

5. How are you encouraged to know that your story is not over, even in moments when it feels like it might be? How does scripture help you to trust that God is near and can use you regardless of your circumstances?
