Thank you for reading my devotion and looking further to this additional post. I do not know whether the gentleman I talked about would even remember our exchange that day, but it sure had a profound effect on my prayer life, causing me to be more deliberate and immediate when asked to pray. We have stayed in touch so I will send him a link so he can see the devotion and know the impact he had on me. I also want to take this opportunity to post an update on a previously published devotion.
On September 29, 2025, The Upper Room published another of my devotions which was titled God Walks with Us. This one talked about remembering to pray, out loud, before medical procedures. I have an orthopedic doctor that I have been seeing for a while who has given me several cortisone injections. Each time, I have asked him if he minded if I prayed first. Recently, my wife experienced some hip problems, so we made an appointment with this same doctor, and he said an injection was necessary. Not having had one before, my wife was apprehensive, so I stayed in the room with her. The doctor got everything prepared, and as he was getting ready to begin he stopped, looked up, and asked me whether I wanted to pray first.
This really warmed my heart. I was pleased he remembered those previous experiences, and equally pleased that, in my distracted state, worrying about my wife, the doctor was there to remind me about the most important part of the medical procedure: praying first. I am grateful that God gives me the inspiration to write, and I pray that my words touch the person or persons God intends to hear them. I pray that God will provide all who read this with the courage to pray right then, when asked, and the wisdom to know what to say. May God bless you today and always.
