More from Emmanuel O. Afolabi

July 3, 2025 by Emmanuel O. Afolabi (Lagos, Nigeria)

As I sat down to write my meditation on trusting in God’s provision, I couldn’t help but think about the times in my life when I had to trust in God’s goodness. The verse that stood out to me was from Luke 12:28, “If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith” (NRSVUE). These words reminded me that God’s provision is not just about meeting our physical needs, but also about nurturing our faith.

Since writing my meditation, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on how God’s provision has played out in my life. I’ve realized that trusting in God’s provision doesn’t mean that we won’t face challenges or uncertainties. But it does mean that we can face those challenges with confidence, knowing that God is sovereign and good.

One thing that has changed for me since writing my meditation is that I’ve been more intentional about seeking God’s kingdom above all else. I’ve been trying to prioritize my relationship with God and trust in God’s provision for my needs. It’s not always easy, but I’ve seen God’s goodness and provision in ways that I wouldn’t have imagined.

As I reflect on my journey of faith, I realize that trusting in God’s provision is not a one-time decision but a continuous process. It’s a daily choice to trust in God’s goodness, to believe that he knows what’s best for us, and to surrender our worries and fears to God.

I’ve learned that trusting in God’s provision requires patience, persistence, and faith. It requires us to let go of our need to control everything and to trust that God has a plan that’s bigger than we can imagine. But the rewards of trusting in God’s provision are immeasurable. When we trust in God, we experience a sense of peace that transcends our circumstances, freedom from worry and fear, and a deeper sense of intimacy with God.

As I look back on my journey of faith, I realize that there have been many times when I’ve had to trust in God’s provision. I’ve learned that God’s provision is not just about meeting our physical needs, but also about nurturing our faith. When we trust in God’s provision, we’re not just trusting in God’s ability to provide for our physical needs; we’re also trusting in God’s ability to shape us, to mold us, and to transform us into the people he wants us to be.

In conclusion, trusting in God’s provision is a journey of faith that requires patience, persistence, and trust. It’s a daily choice to trust in God’s goodness, to believe that God knows what’s best for us, and to surrender our worries and fears to God. As we trust in God’s provision, we experience a sense of peace, freedom, and intimacy with God that we wouldn’t otherwise experience. May we all learn to trust in God’s provision, and may our faith be strengthened as we seek God’s kingdom above all else.
