On May 1–17, the Western Sydney Emmaus Ministries Community held Australia's first-ever Village Encounter event. Team members for this virtual event in the Emmaus Ministries family came from various countries, and participants represented various Australian states.
At the closing ceremony, the 15 pilgrims shared their experience as they addressed the gathering. One participant admitted that, having previously participated in a Walk to Emmaus, she attended out of curiosity and was surprised by how the Village Encounter impacted her. Another stated that “the event was very galvanizing and deeply transformative,” a third participant indicated that the Village Encounter had renewed her “love of God, whose love she had been doubting.” All in all, participants only had positive feedback about the experience.
As talks for the future of this program in Australia continue, we at The Upper Room give thanks for the visionary leadership of the Western Sydney Emmaus Community, for all those daring team members, and for all participants, to whom we wish a multitude of blessings on their Fourth Day.
