My Fourth Day Story

June 13, 2024 by Josue Loyo (Puebla, Mexico)

In 1990, I participated in the Crisálida (Chrysalis) #3 event in the city of Puebla, México. At the age of 15, while serving in my conference leadership in the area of Christian development, God confirmed the call on my life to serve. I entered the seminary in the City of Monterrey, and for 13 years, I shared in the church as a weekend Pastor in various places within my conference.

Over the years, I had a special illness that debilitated my hips, causing me a lot of pain for ten years. The doctors told me that, because of my age, they could not operate on me, so I changed clinics and moved to another state.

Operations were completed on both of my hips, with hip prostheses placed in each. I wasn’t sure I would survive the operations, or whether I might still be in extreme pain, or left unable to walk. Today, I give God the honor and glory – because I am standing, walking, and running. After I recovered from surgery, I returned to continue supporting the church. My healing was a great miracle from God because many years of waiting and pain had passed. My constant desire was to work where the Lord called me.

I also experienced COVID, being the last in my family to get sick. I had been caring for my family, making trips to get oxygen and breathing machines, and on one of those trips, I got infected. Via a video call, a doctor told me that I needed to be hospitalized on a ventilator. I believed that if they intubated me, I wouldn't recover, so instead, I asked God to do his will in me. After a month, my family began to heal, and I was the first in my family to recover from this illness. I know that there is a reason why I am alive, and it is to worship and be a testimony of the love that God has for me and to be of support to other people wherever I am.

Reading the word of God, prayer, and, above all, sharing with my brothers and sisters have helped me move forward. Those who have helped me know the incredible things God has done in my life. Reading books such as La Vida de un Guerrero (The Life of a Warrior), Preparémomos para la Batalla (Let's Prepare for Battle), Cerdos en la Sala (Pigs in the Hall), and the book of Proverbs have been key in my development as a Christian. In addition to my reading, being involved with the men of my conference in the area of Christian development has strengthened me: we are forming small prayer groups and creating a rehabilitation clinic for drug addicts and alcoholics. I will continue in the work of my Lord Jesus, doing whatever he calls me to do in continued support of the ministries of the church.

To God be the honor and glory. Blessings, and ¡De Colores!
