NASHVILLE, Tenn. May 6, 2024 / The Upper Room, part of Discipleship Ministries of The United Methodist Church, announced today that after three years of faithful service, Rev. Kimberly Orr, Publisher/Associate General Secretary of The Upper Room, has resigned and will be seeking appointment elsewhere July 1, 2024 (as a part of the United Methodist appointment process).
Rev. Jeff Campbell, General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Discipleship Ministries, stated, “The Upper Room remains an important part of the ecumenical ministry of The United Methodist Church. As we look to the future, we will provide space for new direction following God’s call for The Upper Room. I give thanks for the service of Rev. Orr and we wish her well in her next endeavors.”
In the interim, General Secretary Jeff Campbell will lead The Upper Room as the search for Rev. Orr’s successor begins, underscoring Discipleship Ministries' commitment to the vital ministries of The Upper Room.
The Upper Room is a global ecumenical ministry of The United Methodist Church dedicated to supporting the spiritual formation of Christians seeking to know and experience God more fully. Founded as a daily devotional guide, The Upper Room has grown to include publications, programs, prayer support, and other resources to help believers of all ages and denominations move to a deeper level of faith and service.
