God of wonders, we thank you for the miracles of life and the blessings you have bestowed upon us. Forgive us for forgetting how you always watch over and love us in so many different ways. In your loving name we pray. Amen.
The overarching theme of this week’s lectionary reflection is trusting in God. The passages from Exodus and Psalms narrate the troubles of the Israelites in the desert, inviting us to reflect upon the realities of trusting in God in the midst of life’s difficulties. The reading in Romans continues the theme of trust whereby we are invited to trust or boast only in what God has done for us on the Cross. Finally, the reading in John depicts the Samaritan woman as an exemplary figure of faith who believed in Jesus as the Messiah. She didn’t require miracles to have faith; she found the miracle and her faith in her encounter with Jesus.
