Formed with Purpose

There have been times when I’ve felt inadequate to fulfill God’s plan for my life. The weight of others’ expectations has been apparent, and I have sometimes felt rejected because I don’t always fit into others’ expectations. But I have learned that I am not alone in my insecurities.

Jeremiah also felt inadequate when called by God. In Jeremiah 1:5, God tells him, “Before I created you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart.” And though Jeremiah doubted himself, God reassured him, “Don’t be afraid . . . I’m with you.”

I have come to trust that God not only intentionally formed me but also calls, equips, and empowers me to fulfill God’s purpose. The gifts, talents, and longings within me were placed there so I could share God’s love and truth. In moments of doubt, I can trust that God, who has been with me from the beginning, will never leave me.

God has formed each of us with intent and equips us with words, wisdom, and strength for God’s mission. Following our calling isn’t about our strength or our insecurities; it’s about letting go of our fears and trusting God to be with us every step of the journey.
