The Spirit’s Voice

After completing a degree in mathematics, I decided to continue my education in the same discipline. However, when it was time for the course exams, I was underprepared. I didn’t know most of the answers, and the two hours during the exam were some of the most ego-destroying of my life. I was gutted.

I sought guidance from a beloved high school teacher. Then I went home and slept until the morning. The following day I prayed, “Please, Lord, tell me where to go from here.”

I did not renew my academic registration the following year. I started spending more time studying God’s word and set aside time each morning for prayer. Gradually, my inner peace and the assurance that God loves me returned to my soul.

In time, God opened fresh opportunities for me. My career took a different direction, and I got a new perspective on life. I began to realize that achievement is not everything. I learned to listen to the Spirit’s voice and allow God’s peace to guide me. I began to understand the truth of Jesus’ words: “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
