Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. - Psalm 71:17 (NIV)

Observing Holy Week is something new for me. In my childhood home we learned about God, but we were not strong believers. Eventually, we left God behind altogether.

My life has been filled with problems, stress, work, and many other struggles. But embraced by God’s mercy and strengthened by God’s word and El Aposento Alto, I’ve been able to find my way back to God’s path.

Now after many years, I have come to see, accept, and feel very different about Holy Week and what it represents: the love, grace, mercy, and sacrifice of our Lord. I now realize how at the peak of Jesus’ life, he showed his love for humankind. All the virtues Jesus demonstrated throughout his life showed this love. With the opportunity to write this meditation, I am putting into action the words Jesus said: “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you” (Mk. 5:19).

Today's Prayer
Lord Jesus, we give thanks for the great love you have for each one of us. As you taught us, we pray, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen” (Matt. 6:9-13, KJV).
