Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

I recently learned about “glimmers,” which are small moments in the day that make us feel joy, peace, and gratitude. The more we train our brains to be on the lookout for these kinds of moments, the more they seem to happen.

Today’s quoted scripture sounds to me a lot like looking for glimmers: Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances.

For me, Christmas is like one continuous glimmer-full season, and I love it. In addition to the decor, food, gatherings, and gifts, Christmas is a time when I see people smiling more and speaking more openly about Jesus.

As Christians, we are encouraged to share the gospel with others, and Christmas is the perfect time to do so. But we can also show the people around us how Jesus is at work in our lives all year long. Sharing the gospel can be a glimmer-full experience. Jesus is our peace and joy, and the more we speak about and share his goodness, the more we notice it around us.

Today's Prayer
Father God, thank you for your goodness. Help us to notice the glimmers of you in our daily lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
