We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 (NIV)
For a time I lived in a country far from my parents. At one point my mother got sick and was hospitalized, then passed away after months of painful treatments. Unable to travel home, I supported my brother so he could travel to handle the funeral and care for our grieving father.
Two years later, our father had a stroke that left him unable to move or talk. I used up my savings to support my brother as he cared for our father. Then my brother had to be hospitalized for several months. Who would care for our father now?
I do not know how the story ends, but I know there is always the hope of God’s salvation. I don’t want others to be upset, so I rarely share the details of my life with any but my closest friends. But I trust that, in time, God’s answers, provision, and protection will turn this situation around. And if God’s answers are different from what I hope and pray for, I will still praise God. I will boast of my weaknesses and hardships because in and through them, God works powerfully.
When I am weak, Christ is strong.
