God Takes Care of Us

April 26, 2026 by Quennie Joyce Ibarra (Misamis Occidental, Philippines)

In my recent Upper Room meditation, I shared about how God was teaching me to serve as a homemaker. My responsibilities have grown since then as we welcomed another member of our family. My second baby was born almost a year ago, and it has been truly challenging, exhausting even. Yet it’s also the most rewarding!

Recently, we moved into the little farmhouse we’ve been praying for for a while. It’s a new season for our small young family of four. There’s a lot of learning and unlearning for sure, as things are more manual here compared to the ease and convenience we’re used to. We also don’t have on-demand access to water, so we’re learning to save water and be more mindful of our use of it.

Life is much slower and simpler here. It’s so humbling in many ways. Amidst the challenges, we see the blessing and favor of God surrounding us—in the food God’s garden grows and in how he’s given us this place for our children’s homeschooling. I think it’s so fun to have nature as our classroom.

It gets scary at times, especially with the crisis and uncertainty our country (the Philippines) is experiencing. But the little birdsong, sweet and melodic, that wakes me up every morning reminds me of how God’s eyes are on the sparrows, faithfully feeding them. God even beautifully clothes the lilies (see Luke 12:27-28)—so how much more will God take care of us, his children!
