New Book Release: Praying Their Way
Help kids develop an authentic relationship with God. Children have a natural curiosity about God and Read More

It has been a year since I wrote this morning’s devotion. Like many others, my family has faced some difficult challenges in that time. Things don’t always “go according to plan” when the plan is ours. God’s plans, however, all eventually work according to God’s will.
In today’s devotion, Archibald’s only focus was on the ball—the one thing he couldn’t access—even though there was an abundance around him! With food, toys, a bed, a big green yard, and a Mommy and Daddy who offer him limitless love, the boy has got it made!
It is natural for all of us to experience disappointment and even, sometimes, tragedy. There’s no sin in grieving these things; in fact it is a necessary step for eventual healing. However, the circumstances causing our pain and/or fear, do not alter the incredible provision and love we can find in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In the Bible we find instances where this provision is promised and delivered. We need comfort, hope, encouragement, strength, wisdom, help . . . and all of these (and much more) can be ours. How? By reaching out, asking for, and accepting these gifts of God — by first accepting the greatest gift of all: salvation and forgiveness found in Christ’s sacrifice. Unlike Archie, we can choose where to focus as we move through life. Let’s move forward, friends, into a life fulfilled by faith in God’s abundant wisdom and care. Hugs!
