بالائی منزل- The Upper Room

Urdu edition of The Upper Room

From 2004 to 2010, I taught at a Christian school in Pakistan, where I first learned about The Upper Room. We used the devotional in our morning devotion time. We had the devotions translated into our native language, Urdu. In Urdu, Upper Room is written as: بالائی منزل.  There was always a blessed thought to share. At that time, I had no idea that one day I would write a devotional and see it published. I was never a writer; I loved to speak. God blessed me to share the word of God with different age groups and on various occasions.

In 2011, I started teaching at a non-Christian institution, and I have been blessed to serve there to date. That routine of devotional reading stopped, and I forgot about devotionals.

After such a long gap, in 2023 during one of my vacations, I needed online work to earn extra money for charity. I searched and landed on writing devotions and Christian articles. I read about the opportunity to write for The Upper Room and sent my pieces. I wasn’t sure my devotional would be chosen. I was overjoyed when I received the acceptance mail. It is a fact that whenever I write a devotional, it heals and transforms me first. The writer is blessed first before the readers are blessed. I believe that we, as humans, are privileged to use our words to propagate the greatest insights and knowledge, i.e., the word of God.

To be part of a ministry that touches lives is, indeed, a rare prerogative. It is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and to strengthen the faith of the struggling. The service goes beyond borders and regions. God is worthy to be proclaimed to the ends of the earth. And God wants us to fulfill the needs of other people, as I was able to with the honorarium I received.

Whenever I read The Upper Room devotions, I feel inspired and thought-provoked. All those who are part of this ministry are chosen and called to serve the Lord.

May God use this platform to change lives and make disciples!
