A New Awakening

January 29, 2026 by JB Zahn (Florida, USA)

My wife and I love to travel in our recreational vehicle. At this writing, we have camped in forty-two of the lower forty-eight states of the United States of America. After working in the Gulf of Mexico and the area of the mouth of the Mississippi River for so many years, I had always wanted to see the origin of the Mississippi River. On one of our recreational vehicle trips we were able to see this in the Bemidji, Minnesota area.

But the idea for this devotional came to me while we were traveling in Mississippi during late February and early March of 2024, visiting our children and grandchildren.

The azalea flowers were beautiful at that time of year, and I have always been amazed at the early springtime beauty of the azalea shrubs. During this time there are also redbud and dogwood trees that add to the early springtime beauty.

I have always enjoyed the springtime of the year when we have what I like to call “a new awakening” when the trees and plants bud out again for a new growing season.

Springtime is a great time to renew our commitment to love Jesus and to follow his will each day, accepting the love he so freely gives.
