February 4: More than Enough

1. Do you have a strong sense of fairness? How does your sense of fairness change depending on the situation? Why do you think we so often desire fairness?
2. Do you find that your sense of fairness is usually based on limiting factors? Do you feel the same desire for fairness when resources are abundant? Why or why not?
3. When you hear the story of the vineyard workers, do you agree with today’s writer that their payment initially seems unfair? What can you learn from the answer Jesus gives regarding God’s generosity?
4. How are you encouraged to know that God’s grace is inexhaustible? In what ways does that knowledge help you to remain connected to God and to show grace to others?
5. What scripture passages most remind you of the abundant grace of God? How do these verses help you when you are tempted to think of God’s grace as a limited resource?

February 11: Got a Minute?

1. Have you ever asked someone to pray for you and had them pray right there on the spot? If so, what was that experience like? If not, how do you think it would make you feel for someone to pray for you as soon as you asked?
2. Do you find it hard to remember prayer requests after the fact? Why or why not? What tools and methods do you use to remind yourself of prayer requests that you receive throughout the week?
3. When have you adopted a new prayer practice based on the practices of someone else? How did that new practice make a difference in your prayer life?
4. Do you ever offer to pray with others in the moment? If so, what gives you the courage to do so? If not, what might help you get better at praying in the moment?
5. What does it mean to you to pray without ceasing? How do you make prayer a consistent part of your life?

February 18: The Former Things

1. Have you ever attended a performance where the performers made a mistake? How did they handle the mistake? Did they get a chance for a fresh start?
2. How do you feel after you read Isaiah 43:18-19? In what ways do those verses help you avoid dwelling on your past?
3. When has God done a new thing in your life? How did that new start make a difference for you?
4. Do you struggle to let go of the past? Why or why not? How does your relationship with God give you the courage to let go of the past and embrace the present?
5. What are you surrendering to God this Lenten season? How does looking to God help you release your past and move on to a better future?

February 25: Doubly Blessed

1. Have you ever been unable to go forward to receive Communion? If so, what happened? If not, what do you think you would do in that situation?
2. When have you been blessed by the care and consideration of those around you? What did they do? How did their actions make a difference for you?
3. Have you ever had a moment when you experienced Communion more deeply or in a new way? What was the situation? How did this change the way you thought about your faith or the meaning of Communion?
4. When have you experienced what it means to be a part of the body of Christ? How does being a member of the body keep you connected with your faith and your community?
5. What scripture verses most remind you of the importance of Christian community? How do you strive to be a caring and loving member of your faith community?
