It’s been several years and many thousands of miles since I traded in “The Silver Box” (my name for the vehicle that had the gas gauge issue) for a newer vehicle that I call “The Trekkie.” The best thing that came out of my experience with the faulty gauge is that I found a local auto mechanic I trust—the owner and his son patiently listen to my vague descriptions of issues, explain options, and answer my questions; all the employees I have encountered there are courteous.
So of course I have recommended this family business to friends and neighbors. I would like to say that I have recommended my church, or the Bible study I attend, or passages of scripture, or devotional websites (like this one) as often as I have recommended my mechanic . . . but I haven’t. Perhaps this is a challenge I can address. Let’s all pray for God’s word to be recommended to those who have not heard about him.
