Citizenship in the Kingdom of God
I have been involved in justice ministry since 1958. During that time, I have known dozens Read More
As I wrote in my devotional, in time when we were moving to another rented house, we needed additional cost of 200,000 rupiahs. God did miracle! A friend transferred me some money and the amount was matched with our need. Praise God!
In my life, I see many similar experiences. I will share one of them with you.
Last month in church, I found my bag broken. The zipper was loose. I could not bring it with me to church the following week. My sister beside me informed me that she has two other bags at home, but she was not sure I would like using them because one was too small and the other was too big. At home, I saw that neither of the bags she had were suitable to be brought to church.
On the following Thursday, a friend messaged me. She told me that she had just cleared out her wardrobe and there were a lot of clothes that were too small for her. She intended to give them to me. “Do you want them, Sister?” she asked. “Oh, yes,” I answered. A few hours later, she messaged me again. She said she also had two bags and asked if I wanted them. Excitedly, I replied, “Yes, I want them.”
My friend said she would deliver the clothes and bags to my house on Friday. However, on Friday she apologized because she was very busy and could not deliver them. Then on Saturday afternoon, she apologized again because she was still very busy and could not come over. I thought I should use one of two bags my sister had offered for church the next day. But then on Saturday night, my friend called to tell me that she was on her the way to my house. Joyfully, I accepted all the gifts. “Thank you very much,” I said to her. I looked the clothes, which were very pretty, and I shared some with my mother. The bags were suitable to be brought to church, and they were still new!
Jesus said our Father in heaven knows what we need before we ask (see Matt. 6:8). As I have written in my devotional, in my experience God has done amazing things. More than knowing what I need, God has filled my needs before I have realized them. We may not always experience this same thing, but still God is good to us. God is good to every one of us and will creatively help us fill our needs in different ways.
Since God knows what we need before we ask, we don’t need to worry about our needs. Every time we need something (wisdom, strength, consolation, a solution to problem, etc.) we can present it to God by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving (see. Phil. 4:6). Every day, let us be joyful in God’s perfect provision.
God bless you.
