Greetings. There is a sunflower field located on Fausett Farms near Dawsonville, Georgia. The farm is not far from the wonderful Amicalola Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Georgia at over 700 feet. Amicalola Falls State Park also contains a hiking trail that leads to the Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Fausett Farm was focused on raising poultry until 2011 and now has over thirty acres of sunflowers. The farm promises farm life, fall colors, and horseback riding.
Sunflowers don’t do that well in the Northwest and this year, after moving back to our family home, I have not had much luck with them. I have planted at least fifty seeds and about five are still growing. I was not aware of sunflower farms till our time in Georgia, and I never got to visit one in season. It’s all about the timing—so they say.
Our little church in South Seattle has dwindled since COVID times and is tottered on the edge of closing, with an average attendance of around twelve. However, the building and grounds are pristine, and we have three downstairs rooms that have recently helped house a political asylum family from Brazil. Also we recently gave out seven generous scholarships to high school grads. Our church has been described as small in stature but with a big heart. It’s amazing what a small church can accomplish. I wonder what God has planned for us next? I am sure it will be quite a surprise.
