August 6: Live Your Life

1. When have you felt alone? Why did you feel that way? How did feeling alone impact your actions?
2. Do the laughter and opinions of others change the way you feel about your choices? Why or why not? What do you do when people laugh at or criticize you?
3. Recall a time when you prayed for strength before doing something. Did God provide the strength you needed? What happened?
4. Why is it so easy to end up doing things that make us unhappy just to please other people? How does it feel when you do this? What would happen if you stopped doing it?
5. In what ways does God’s love and presence give you confidence? How does leaning on God help you make choices that make you happy, even if others mock you?

August 13: A Living Faith

1. Who in your life is in need of help? What are some tangible ways you can assist them this week?
2. Do you ever feel like you need more than just thoughts and prayers? Why or why not? How does physical support feel different from thoughts and prayers in times of need?
3. When you know someone needs help, what prayer practices help you pray for them? How do you then follow that prayer with action?
4. Describe a time when you witnessed a small act of kindness that made a big difference. Why do you think that act was so meaningful? What did you learn from it?
5. What scripture verses most encourage you to pray and offer physical help? How can you keep these verses at the forefront of your mind as you look for ways to help others?

August 20: Serving Where You Are

1. Recall a time when you made a big life change. What was it like? How did you adjust to the change?
2. When have you found unexpected ways to serve others and do what makes you happy? What did you do? How did this change your outlook?
3. How are you encouraged by the story in Jeremiah 29? In what ways does it inspire you to find meaning and good work wherever you are?
4. When have you experienced God guiding you to good work? Had you anticipated working in that way? How did God guide you?
5. Who in your life best exemplifies serving where God has put them? How do they do so? What can you learn from their example?

August 27: Highest Calling

1. Have you ever had the opportunity to be close to those who suffer the most? If so, where? How did you show them God’s love? If not, what are some ways you can draw closer to those suffering and care for them?
2. Why do you think it’s so easy to focus only on our own needs and comfort? How does your faith and relationship with Christ help you to see beyond your needs?
3. When have you seen Christ in the people you’ve served? How so? What did they teach you? How were you changed by serving in that way?
4. How does knowing that caring for others is at the core of our calling as Christians push you to serve? How does your faith change the way you serve?
5. Where do you see suffering in your community? How can you step into those places and offer compassion and love?
