The hospital where my son is working as a cardiac surgeon is situated between two Methodist churches. Doctors’ quarters are also situated on the same campus, so we witness what is happening in the churches. On Sundays we witness great gathering of people in both the churches. The worship services are being held with great singing and preaching of the word of God. In our area, we predominantly find churches of three denominations—Catholic, Salvation Army, and Methodist.
Recently, we celebrated Easter. All three denominations had worship services in the evenings during the period of Lent. It’s so fulfilling to see people gathering where worship services are being held. It’s encouraging to see people expressing their faith openly.
Many young people commit their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ during these events. Some even commit themselves to go out as missionaries to remote parts of our country. Of course, there is opposition for evangelistic work in some parts of our country, and we hear of persecution too. But we believe in Jesus’ final words to his disciples which is the great commission to go out into the world, make disciples, baptize, and teach (see Matt. 28:19-20). The Methodist church encourages young people to go through seminaries and equip themselves well for their ministry.
When I see what’s happening around India, I have great hope of revival in the church. There’s still hope for God’s work in this great land of ours.
Above is a picture of a woman named Karuna. She attends a local Catholic church and wanted a full Bible in Gujarathi. I was able to get one for her.
