May 7: Looking Ahead

1. When have you experienced an illness or injury that hindered your ability to serve or work in the way you had in the past? What did you do? In what new ways did you serve or work?
2. When have you witnessed someone’s ministry being strengthened after a setback? What happened? Why do you think the setback ultimately empowered their efforts?
3. Do you ever feel that your best days are behind you? Why or why not? What helps you remain encouraged that your contributions to the world are valuable?
4. Do you have a fresh, forward-focused vision? If so, what is it? If not, how will you ask God for guidance? What will keep you motivated to pursue that vision?
5. How does it encourage you to know that God is never done with us? How does this knowledge help you look forward to what is ahead?

May 14: A Grace-Filled Response

1. Recall a time when you found it difficult to appreciate someone’s good qualities. Why was it difficult for you? What helped you to see the good in them?
2. How does prayer help you to view others with compassion rather than judgment? Why do you think praying helps us to release bitterness and negativity?
3. When have you found it challenging to meet a haughty spirit with humility and gentleness? What spiritual practices help you remain grace-filled and loving even when dealing with people who challenge you?
4. What scripture passages most encourage you to love others and continue doing good work? Why do they encourage you? How do you keep these verses at the forefront of your mind each day?
5. Who has extended grace to you recently? What did they do? What did their actions teach you about extending grace to others?

May 21: God’s Good News

1. Have you ever met someone who has made it their life’s mission to share the gospel? What is their story? How does their example inspire you?
2. How does the story of the Samaritan woman encourage you to tell others about Christ? Who else in scripture encourages you to share the message of Christ with those around you?
3. When have you shied away from sharing your faith with someone? Why? What prayers and spiritual practices help you boldly share the good news of Christ?
4. Who has shared their faith with you in a meaningful way? How did they share it? How do you strive to do the same?
5. In what ways can you share the gospel with your community today? How can you share the gospel more broadly? Name three ways in which you can share God’s love with others this week.

May 28: A New Resolution

1. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Why or why not? If so, do you find them helpful? Do you engage in any other practices around the new year?
2. Would you ever consider starting a gratitude list like today’s writer did? How do you think making such a list can impact your faith?
3. How does focusing on your blessings shift your mindset and change the way you treat others? Why do you think gratitude causes these shifts?
4. Do you find it easy or challenging to entrust your concerns to God? Why? How does trusting God with your concerns enable your heart to grow?
5. Do you view every moment as a blessing? Why or why not? How might your attitude and your actions change if you chose to celebrate every moment you are granted?
