“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.” — Luke 8:11 (NIV)
Whether a good seed or a corrupted one, what we sow is always sown in the Spirit. And every seed sown gets an opportunity to grow and produce a harvest. Many people do not pay heed to the kind of seed they sow and are astonished on receiving an unexpected harvest.
“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Gal. 6:8). If a good seed—which is Christ—is sown, one receives a pleasure full harvest. It brings joy and contentment and gets spread as a blessing to others. Seeds of a weed, which comes from darkness, would also receive a harvest, which brings a burden to carry. It would be a pain to have that harvest, and no gain to keep it.
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” (Gal. 6:7). What seed are we sowing this season? Is it seeds of fear, offense, displeasure, discontentment—or thanksgiving, joy, love, laughter, and encouragement? God promises a harvest, so let us aim for a heart that receives good and sows good in the life God has given us and our loved ones. Receive the Light.
