More From Steve Wakefield

January 30, 2024 by Steve Wakefield (Alabama, USA)

As I mentioned in the devotional, it can be hard to listen to God. As in the parable of the sower, we are choked by the “thorns” of life (see Matthew 13:1-23). I try to understand what God is telling me in all situations even if it is something as small as having a plant that I was nurturing die.

As I have mentioned in previous blog post, I moved to a new city and started a new job in 2021. A new beginning was good for me and much needed. Although the new city was good and I was able to create a new life for myself, I struggled with the job. I knew I could never be at peace if I continued to collaborate with the company. In June 2023 my dad got sick, and I knew that was God telling me to move back home and take care of him. I moved in August and left behind the life I had worked so hard to build. I did not know if I would be able to find employment, but knew I needed to trust God.

As I write this blog, I have found a better paying job with better opportunity. I have connected with old friends, and I have found a place to worship where I can share my story and help those going through challenging times in their lives. Dad is much better and is living an enjoyable life in the comfort of his home. I know all these blessings are because I did my best to listen to God and to follow God’s plan.
